LAHORE:The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Saturday fixed a plea filed by Opposition Leader in National Assembly Shehbaz Sharif for removal of his name from the exit control list (ECL) for hearing on Monday (tomorrow), a private TV channel reported. A two-member bench comprising Justice Malik Shehzad and Justice Mirza Waqas Rauf will hear the petition. In his plea filed on February 28, the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) president has made the interior ministry, the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) and other relevant authorities as respondents. The petitioner pleaded that his name has been unlawfully placed on the ECL as it is illegitimate to restrict movement of anyone as per the constitution of Pakistan. “NAB failed to prove charges of financial irregularities in Ramzan Sugar Mills and Ashiana Housing scam,” Shehbaz stated in his plea, adding that the court granted him bail after provision of evidence of his innocence. The counsel urged the court to annul the notification placing his client’s name on the ECL. Shehbaz’s name was put on the ECL following approval of the federal cabinet on recommendations of the anti-graft watchdog.
