LAHORE: A father of seven was gunned down by unidentified persons over an old enmity near his house in Baghbanpura police limits on Saturday, police said.
The deceased has been identified as Asad, 48, a resident of Narowal. Police said that the victim was residing in a rented house in Baghbanpura area along with his family for the last few years.
On the day of incident, Asad was on his way home when some unidentified persons fired at him, killing him on the spot. Police said that the assailants shot the victim in the head and face. However, the assailants easily managed to escape.
According to police, family members of the victim told them that they had an old enmity in Narowal, and that several people had been killed earlier. Police removed the body to the city mortuary and registered a murder case. Further investigation is underway.
Separately, a 30-year-old man died when two motorcycles collided head-on in Satto Katla area.
Police said that the deceased, identified as Munir, was on his way on a motorcycle when another speedy motorcyclist coming from the opposite side lost control and hit Munir’s motorcycles, resulting into his immediate death. The other motorcyclist also got injured in the accident. He was shifted to a nearby hospital for medical treatment. Police handed over the body to Munir’s heirs after completing legal formalities.
Also, police recovered a body of a youth from a drain in Raiwind on Saturday. The deceased has been identified as Abu Bakkar, resident of Raja Jhang. Police said a kidnapping case of the victim was registered in Raja Jang area, and that bruise marks was found on his body.
Police said that it seemed that some unidentified persons had tortured him to death, and later threw his dead body in the drain. A passer-by saw the dead body and informed police.
Similarly, Burki police recovered a dead body from BRB Canal. Police said that some locals spotted the dead body in the canal and informed police. Police and rescuers pulled the body from the canal. Police said that the actual cause of death could be ascertained after a post-mortem report and identification.
