LAHORE: Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf chief Imran Khan claimed on Thursday that Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Nawaz Sharif was seeking help from ‘foreign friends’ to save himself, a private TV channel reported.
Addressing a gathering in Lahore, the PTI chief said that Nawaz had met Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi to seek his help to save himself from the ‘army’.
Speaking on the issue of Khatm-e-Nabuwwat declaration controversy, Imran asked why the government had not made public the inquiry report submitted by Raja Zafarul Haq. He said that former law minister Zahid Hamid had said that it was a ‘clerical error’, stressing since the government had not amended any law yet the ‘error’ was still not explained.
Imran pointed out that the contents of the Dawn Leaks report were also not brought before the public, alleging that it was because of the fact that the report revealed that Nawaz held meetings with PM Modi to save himself.
“Nawaz had to go,” said Imran, adding that whether the PML-N crumbles or not is not the real issue. He further mocked Nawaz by saying that he is complaining and crying after being removed from his post. “PML-N made Nawaz party president when he was supposed to answer for money he has invested abroad,” he said, alleging that Nawaz invested Rs 300 billion in 15 companies abroad. Instead of answering for his investments abroad, Nawaz produced a letter from the Qatari prince, he lamented. Slamming other PML-N leaders and aides of Nawaz, the PTI chief said all of them know Nawaz’s money is actually looted money.
