KARACHI: A prolonged heat spell in the metropolis broke down early Friday morning with a little drizzle on the very last day of Ramadan.
The people of Karachi experienced the little drizzle as a blessing in disguise just hours after Sehri.
Various areas of the metropolis including I.I Chundrigar Road, Nazimabad, University Road, Mosamiyat and Gulistan-e-Johar welcomed the pleasant weather after the light rain.
Earlier, the Meteorological Department had announced that the monsoon season in the southern parts of the country is expected to start in July.
Karachi has been under a continuing wave of heat spell since the last month. With little or no sea breeze, the metropolis experiences soaring levels of scorching heat during the month of Ramadan.
The temperatures according to the Met department, soared up to 45°C . The city remained under the clutches of blistering heat, with the Met officials issuing alerts and public awareness circulars to avoid heatstroke.
